Orus bollards illuminate remote rail track in Western Australia
A new remote rail track in Western Australia is now equipped with 500 customised Orus bollard luminaires(60W) to provide the optimum 12m spacing required to illuminate the track while avoiding the maintenance challenge associated with high columns.
Orus incorporates Flat Beam® technology specifically developed for low-level mounting. A special bi-directional optic provides a unique light distribution, excellent uniformity with no glare and a low mounting height of 0.9m.
Placing light exactly where it is needed, the Flat Beam® technology satisfies the most demanding standards for safety. It provides increased perceived brightness and visibility and helps drivers to detect static or moving obstacles at all speeds, in addition to this Orus' optics also provide the perfect illumination for track or train maintenance.
To increase the speed, and in turn, reduce the cost of the installation, Orus was customized by adding an external junction box inside and to the base of the bollard. This ensured the installer only needed to connect the pre-assembled bollard to the mains power. It also eliminated the need to dismantle the product to get access to the terminal block.
For durability, Orus features a powder-coated steel with UV stabilised polycarbonate enclosure. This protects the bollard against graffiti and provides extra scratch resistance in the harsh, remote conditions.
