LED downlights for university meeting room
The second-oldest university in France - Université Toulouse 1 Capitole, founded in 1229 - has recently switched on an up-to-the-minute LED lighting installation that bridges hundreds of years in an effective and efficient way.
Lighting designers Tasserahave used a combination of recessed 18W Base LED 165 and 33W Cruz 160 LEDdownlights with decorative frosted glass rings throughout the Gabriel Marty meeting room. The LED luminaires were selected for their high output (1,000 and 2,000 lumens respectively) and efficiency as well as their long life and excellent colour rendering. Replacing 58W fluorescent lamps, the new lighting scheme has increased light levels from 250 to 400 lux while maintaining the same electrical load - 2.5kW.
The new dimmable units– almost 100 of them – are used in four regular rows, with the Cruz 160 LEDs on the outside, to provide even and glare free levels of lighting over the stylish and elegant wooden conference table and surrounding polished floor. Supplementing the ceiling lights are adjustable D-CO LED Gyro downlights, which use clusters of 1.2W LEDs to highlight the key focal graphic on the end wall.
The room was designed by locally based architect Charrièreet Jacob and electrical installation was by INEO of Toulouse.
