NightTune - Protecting people and planet
In this whitepaper, we draw on research from industry experts, academics and scientists and consider the opportunities that NightTune can offer
According to the International Dark-Sky Association, “Globally, we spend at least $50 billion in energy costs each year to produce light that escapes into space.”
Not only is this light wasted, it can contribute negatively to nocturnal environments, increase costs unnecessarily for the owners of the lighting, pollute our dark skies and has the potential to harm human wellbeing.
Thorn’s NightTune technology has been designed to limit these adverse consequences through adapting colour temperatures and light outputs to suit the time of night and the environment in which the technology is installed.
In this whitepaper, we draw on research from industry experts, academics and scientists and consider the opportunities that NightTune can offer, supported by relevant case studies. We also outline the outdoor products in Thorn’s portfolio that have been granted the International Dark-Sky Association’s Fixture Seal of Approval, certifying them as dark-sky friendly.
